Meet The Team - Maisie

You might not spot Maisie on our socials very often, but that's because she's usually the one behind the camera. From dreaming up content ideas to filming, editing and writing, she's the person making sure No.14 stays connected with our wonderful customers across our marketing channels.
We caught up with Maisie to chat about what life as Marketing Manager really looks like, her favourite content to create, the products she can't live without, and the independent businesses she loves to support.
What does a typical day as Marketing Manager at No.14 look like?
I'm a bit of an organisation lover, so you'll often find me planning content and searching for inspiration. (Yes, I really am working when I'm on my phone!) Alongside that, I keep our Instagram Stories fresh every day, write our newsletters and captions, chat with our lovely community in the comments and DMs, and make sure the website is always looking its best.
What's your favourite piece of content you've ever created for No.14?
I always love the content we create at Christmas, it's our busiest time of year, and we make a lot of it! My favourite has to be No.14 Actually. (Myself and Charlotte love recreating movie scenes.)
Outside of Christmas, I loved creating our Halloween ghost video and our Jellycat afternoon tea.
Which No.14 product is your current obsession, and why?
I love our new jewellery brand, Flânerie by MAIQ. In fact, I'm wearing the Paloma Hoop Earrings as I'm writing this! They add a pop of colour to any outfit.
My long-time favourite, though, has to be the Paddywax Incense & Smoke candle. It's a fragrance I'll always repurchase and love giving as a gift too. It's one of those scents that works beautifully all year round.
If you could only post one type of content forever, what would it be?
Trend videos don't just perform really well for us, they're some of the most fun content to create too. We have so many laughs filming them (and probably get a few strange looks from customers and people walking past). I'm always excited to see them go live and watch everyone's reactions.
What's the most surprising thing people don't realise goes into marketing a small independent shop?
I think people would be surprised by just how much time and effort goes into creating content. From filming and editing videos to writing captions and newsletters, it's a full-time job.
I think there's a misconception that we just film something and post it the same day, but that's rarely the case. Some videos take hours of planning, filming, editing and fine-tuning before they're ready to share. Creating regular content takes a lot more work than people realise, however big or small the business is.
Which member of the team is the easiest (or hardest) to persuade to be in a video?
Charlotte is always up for filming content, no matter how silly the idea is! Lydia likes to pretend she doesn't want to be involved, but I know she secretly loves it. She's also become a bit of a fan favourite, so our customers are always happy to see her pop up in a video.
Which other independent business do you love shouting about, and why?
I was so excited when Lucky Hare Books opened in Ampthill. I'm a keen reader and an absolute sucker for a beautiful bookshop, so it's right up my street.
Like the rest of the team, I'm a big fan of grabbing a coffee from The Social, and I also love heading to Marv's for a glass of wine. If you haven't visited Taite Ro yet, it's a must. With rails full of gorgeous outfits available to rent, it's such a brilliant addition to Ampthill.
I couldn't possibly choose just one business though, Ampthill is full of fantastic independents, and that's one of the many reasons I love it so much.
What are you most excited about for No.14 over the next few months?
I absolutely love Autumn. The shop feels so cosy, the products are beautiful, and it's such a lovely season to create content for.
And, of course, I love Christmas. It's my favourite time of year in the shop, and I'll be starting to plan for it very soon!
